The topics of species-appropriate fish farming and sustainable, ethical fishing are more relevant than ever. That’s why it makes sense for interested stakeholders to come together—talk, exchange insights, analyse findings, and develop solutions to improve fish welfare.
To support this exchange, fair‑fish created an innovative discussion format: Summer Shoals. These gatherings took place outdoors, close to the sea. A small and diverse group of participants, representing science, consumers, NGOs, retail, politics, certification bodies, and industry, came together to discuss challenges and propose solutions. There were no laser pointers, no PowerPoint slides—just open, constructive collaboration in service of fish welfare.
The fifth and (for now) final Summer Shoal took place in 2023. Since then, we have moved to virtual events: the Online Shoals. You can find the corresponding programme on our dedicated page: fair‑fish.net/online-shoal/
